The National Hazard and Risk Model (NoHARM) is a decision support tool for wildfire hazard and risk assessment. NoHARM provides a comprehensive view of the predicted severity (hazard) and frequency (probability) of wildfire in a given location.
The system creates a relative ranking of community hazards categorized as Low, Moderate, High and Very High. Rankings from this study should not be compared to other wildfire hazard rankings as the methodology and scoring are specific to this study area and in collaboration with local Fire personnel. For example, a high-hazard area on the plains of Kansas may not look like a high-hazard area in the Sierra Nevada.
